Here are more highlights of the contract, which are in addition to the MOU signed in August 2006 granting a minimum 5 per cent raise across the board.
(1) Full-time teachers and other employees on the Teacher/Ancillary Staff salary schedule receive a one-time flat salary adjustment of $322 gross pay. The adjustment was prorated if the employee is not full time or started after the beginning of the year.
(2) Student nutrition staff receive a 3.5 per cent flat adjustment on the average salary, which is $367 gross pay. The adjustment is prorated if the employee isn’t full time or started after the beginning of the year.
(3) Secretarial staff receive a 3.5 per cent adjustment on the average salary for this group of employees. The average is $508 and prorated depending on whether or not the employee is full time or has not worked the entire school year.
(4) Educational assistants receive a 2.5 percent flat adjustment on the average salary. The amount is $339, also prorated if employee is not full time or did not work the entire school year.
(5) Library paraprofessionals receive a 3 percent flat adjustment on the average salary for this group of employees.
(6) Bus drivers and mechanics are receiving the difference between $10.79 per hour and $14. An MOU signed between NEA-SF and SFPS is effective July 1, 2007 to carry forward increases to bus drivers which include $14 per hour at Step Zero all the way to $21.50 per hour for Step Thirty.
(7) Bus assistants receive a 5 percent flat adjustment on the average salary for this group of employees. The total amount is $911.18 gross. An MOU between NEA-SF and SFPS signed July 1, 2007 carries forward increases to bus assistants which include $10.79 per hour for Step Zero all the way to $17.79 for Step Twenty-Four.
(8) Stipends for various duties and activities such as coaching, team leader, department chair and so on receive an adjustment to the current stipend for additional duties and responsibilities. The increase relates to this past year and an MOU between SFPS and NEA-SF will carry these increases forward for 2007-2008. For example, if you are currently a lead teacher receiving a $1,114 stipend, the new stipend rate for lead teacher is $2000 and your check is for the difference. Retirees, if eligible, receive a check for 50 percent of their unused sick days at $100 per day.
