SUB ISSUE HASN'T GONE AWAY

NEA-Santa Fe was pleased that the Santa Fe Public Schools didn't renew the contract of Kelly Services for substitute teachers. However, the problem hasn't gone away, and that's the low pay and lack of individuals willing to take on the responsibility of substituting. Please leave your comments at the end of this article if you have recommendations about where to go next. Or contact the Association representative in your building.

It's no longer necessary to continue the web blog we used for Kelly Services. It was, however, highly effective and brought the issue out into the public arena. If you'd like to see how a web blog was used for an issue of this type, go to:

NEWS TO KEEP YOU UPDATED

As of August 24, 2005 no agreement has been reached between NEA-Santa Fe and Santa Fe Public Schools regarding a new contract for 2005-2006. This means that increases will be reflected only after agreement on the contract has been reached and ratified by both sides.

Since NEA-Santa Fe members vote on the new contract, watch for updates about a tentative agreement. This blog will also carry details of the new agreement, when agreement has been reached.

A welcome to 75 new members of NEA-SF who signed up at the beginning of the 2005-2006 academic year.

The next meeting of Association reps will be held on September 15th at 4:30 p.m. at the NEA-NM building at 2007 Botulph, in Santa Fe near St. Vincent's Hospital.

A NEW YEAR...A NEW ACTIONLINE

The NEA-Santa Fe Actionline is being distributed to all members of the Santa Fe Public Schools bargaining unit of employees at the all-employee meeting at Capitol High School on August 15, 2005.

NEA members and non members alike will receive the first issue. If you'd like to receive copies of the Actionline after that, join NEA-Santa Fe. You can also receive regular news updates by visiting this web blog. Tell your colleagues about it as well.

We're not always able to fit all of the excellent information in our hard-copy Actionlines, so the web blog is a perfect outlet for everyone to be heard.
